Melisa Marguy, Librarian of the West Haven Public Library, has helped enroll over 170 Washington students to get a library card! Yesterday was her first of many visits that allowed students to borrow a book from the BookMobile. Students now have the option of borrowing from our little hallway libraries and the public library to keep fostering the love of reading. Library cards can be used at all the West Haven branches. They offer lots of free programs too! Please check them out at www.westhavenlibrary.org.

Bettering Bailey - Interact is a club that works to promote positivity in the Bailey community. Today, the club pushed carts full of treats throughout the halls to show their gratitude for the Bailey staff. The trick-or-treat cart led by club members stopped at all classroom and office doors. It was a spooktacular reward for the fabooulous staff at Bailey.

Last week, the West Haven Fire Department taught Washington 3rd and 4th graders how to get out of their homes quickly and safely in case of a fire. Students practiced staying low to get to safety in WHFD’s smoke (fog) trailer, which looked like a mini living room and kitchen, as fog was created to mimic smoke. Students responded to hearing the smoke detector and crawled out. WHFD also reminded students of the importance of having a working smoke detector at home.
