
April is National Autism Awareness Month, and Mrs. Pedersen’s 5th and 6th-grade students at Carrigan School are bringing awareness by wearing t-shirts from the branding apparel company, Autistically Swagged!

Throughout the month of March, teams of 7th graders at Bailey Middle School visited the Yale University Art Gallery to help gather information for a debate they were working on. The debate centered around the question, “Should museums return foreign artifacts?” For many, this authentic experience was a first in an internationally recognized museum!



A huge THANK YOU to the West Haven Veterans Council for stopping by West Haven High School to hand Principal Dana Paredes a check for $2,000 for senior scholarships!! The money will be divided into 2 scholarships at $1,000 each. The Vietnam Vets in attendance were Dave Ricci (Veterans Council President), Steve Carney, Mark Levine, Rich Foley, and Howie Thomas.

Savin Rock and Washington schools joined together Thursday, March 30th for their annual Literacy Night! This year, author Abdul Razak-Zachariah came to read his book The Night is Yours. Abdul is a West Haven native and is currently attending Harvard. Students were captivated by his book and enjoyed meeting a real author!




Congratulations to all our March award winners from the ‘Caring Cougar Awards’ assembly which was held last week! And a huge congrats to our 2022-23 Unsung Hero, music teacher Mr. Greg Benn!





Washington’s Fourth Grade Chorus did an exceptional job at their spring concert today! Our students showed off their incredible talent in front of their parents, family, and friends who were in attendance. The Chorus performed 4 songs while student artwork was on full display.




Carrigan students from Mrs. Augliera's 5th-grade class visited Mrs. Hayden's kindergarten class at Savin Rock School! The 5th-grade students read 'Pete the Cat' books with their buddy while also helping the kindergarteners complete a craft!
