⚠️NOTICE BY THE WEST HAVEN BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS ⚠️

The West Haven Board of Education’s (WHBOE) Special Education /Pupil Services department informs parents when personally identifiable information, which was collected, maintained or used under IDEA is no longer relevant to the provision of educational services to a student and the WHBOE plans to destroy the information. The WHBOE reminds parents that they or their child may need the information for Social Security benefits, educational or other purposes in the future. However, a permanent record of a student’s name, address, and phone number, his or her grades, attendance record, classes attended, grade level completed, and year completed may be maintained without time limitation.

Please be advised that the West Haven Board of Education (WHBOE) will be destroying special education records for students with a date of birth between January 1, 1998, to December 31, 1998. The WHBOE considers this 30 days’ notice for the destruction of these records. If the WHBOE does NOT receive a written request for your records by December 23, 2025, they will be destroyed on January 3, 2025.

On Friday, the U.S. Army visited both Fairfield Prep and West Haven High School as part of their Great American Rivalry Series. The challenge? To see which school could collectively complete the most push-ups!

WHHS was tasked with beating Prep’s 3,000 push-ups—and our students crushed it! Throughout the day, during gym class, they completed a total of 6,932 push-ups! It was amazing to see everyone participate and help bring home this year’s plaque, now proudly displayed in the trophy case in the main lobby at WHHS.

Today in the WHHS Career Center, seniors and freshmen came together for a Mentor Breakfast! 🥐☕ Freshmen had the chance to connect with seniors and hear about their experiences, helping them realize they’re not alone as they take the big step into high school. Seniors were open and vulnerable, sharing their first-year challenges, saying it’s okay to feel nervous or pressured, and offering tips on how to overcome those feelings. They also gave advice on managing academics, being a student-athlete, balancing involvement in the arts, and finding support through friends, teachers, clubs, and staff.

The morning ended with a quick “Would You Rather” game to get everyone laughing and connecting a little more. Freshmen left feeling supported and inspired, knowing they have an upperclassman community that is always there when needed. It was a meaningful experience that showed the WHHS family is strong, caring, and ready to help every student succeed! 💙✨

The annual WHHS Pep Rally took place today on the football field! Students enjoyed high-energy performances from the band, cheerleaders, and dance team, and had a blast participating in tug-of-war, relay races, and more.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to show their school spirit—and don’t forget to support our team tonight in the big game against Fairfield Prep at 6 PM!

Mackrille 3rd graders visited WHHS today to meet the Community Connection Club members! 💙 Students enjoyed breakfast together, made friendship bracelets, and gathered in the auditorium to hear about the adventures of the Flat Stanleys. They even read Flat Stanley, illustrated by WHHS’s very own Paige Payton, and enjoyed a special presentation to wrap up the visit!

Thank you to everyone who attended the WHHS College & Career Fair on Wednesday night. We had 95 representatives from colleges, military branches, and career programs join us to share valuable information with our students.

Students had the opportunity to visit each table, ask questions, and learn more about different schools and career paths. It was a well-attended event, and we’re proud to provide opportunities that help our students plan for their futures.
