This week’s West Haven Public Schools Co-Athletes of the Week is Amiyah Jones, junior and one of the captains of the girls varsity soccer team, wearing number 11.
As a team captain, Amiyah has taken on a major leadership role despite being just a junior. She scored 2 goals in the Blue Devils’ game last Wednesday against Foran and will be a key player again tonight as West Haven faces Lyman Hall at 5:30 PM, looking for their first win of the season.
Also earning Co-Athlete of the Week honors is Mason Wright, sophomore quarterback for the varsity football team, wearing number 3.
Mason helped lead the Blue Devils to a 30–6 victory over Manchester in their season opener. He went 10-for-17 passing for 208 yards, threw 2 touchdown passes, and added another score on the ground. He and the football team will take the field this Friday at 6:00 PM for their home opener against Shelton in the West Haven Public Schools Game of the Week.
