StudentsThe student representatives on the Board of Education serve as a direct connection between students and district leadership. Their role is centered on making sure student experiences are communicated clearly and accurately. Each of them brings a different perspective shaped by their involvement in school life and their commitment to representing their peers in meaningful ways. Their work helps ensure that student input is included in conversations that shape the school community.

Each student shared a strong motivation for stepping into the role, centered on representation and connection. “I wanted to serve as a student representative on the Board of Education to be able to be a voice for my fellow students,” said Caitlin Biancur. Jen Ngo emphasized how her perspective on the role developed over time. “Through this position, I can become the bridge between students and staff, correlating information and updates to both ends of the table.” Ehsanullah Hadi highlighted his willingness to advocate for students from different academic backgrounds, saying, “I want to serve as the Board of Education student representative because I can represent the student body most effectively, coming from English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to Advanced Placement courses.”

In their roles, the student representatives focus on sharing updates and serving as a voice for student perspectives across the district. Their responsibilities include bringing student concerns and feedback to the Board of Education, sharing important updates from across the schools, and highlighting key moments and accomplishments within the student body.

Beyond their responsibilities as student representatives, each student is actively involved in school life in other meaningful ways. Caitlin is a varsity cheerleader and serves as captain of the girls varsity hockey team, and she also serves as Head of Props for the West Haven High School Theatre Workshop. Jen holds multiple leadership positions across school organizations, including academic and health-related clubs, while also serving as a captain on the girls varsity volleyball team. Ehsanullah is involved in research at the Yale School of Medicine, leads student initiatives through debate and student government, and maintains additional academic and extracurricular commitments.

Their work inside and outside the classroom reflects strong commitment and responsibility. Along with their academics, they participate in multiple extracurricular activities and further distinguish themselves by representing the student body at the district level. In this role, they help strengthen communication and ensure student voices are heard. These experiences are shaping their future, and they are clearly on a path to becoming successful alumni who embody the qualities encouraged at West Haven High School.
