This month, Project Lead the Way Engineering and Biomedical Science students from West Haven High School visited Pat O’Connor’s Technology classes at Bailey Middle School. Mr. Rice and Mr. Piccuillo gave Bailey students an overview of the high school program, but the highlight of the morning came when the high school and middle school students broke into small groups to share their experiences.
Mr. Rice said, “It is tremendously important for high school students to be role models for the younger Middle School students.” Mr. Piccuillo added, “The one on one conversations impressed me. The questions asked by the middle schoolers demonstrated curiosity and interest in STEM.” Pat O’Connor noted, “This interaction with the West Haven High School students sparked great conversations between the students, who were excited to learn about the wide variety of technology courses available at the high school.”
The students enjoyed the chance to meet and talk with one another, making for a fun and engaging morning.
