Today, West Haven High School held a special ceremony in the auditorium to induct new members into the National Honor Society (NHS).

The event began with a brief history of the NHS, followed by the traditional candle lighting ceremony representing the four pillars of the organization: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service.

Betsy Magana, a 2018 NHS graduate from WHHS, shared her reflections on how these pillars have remained meaningful in her life beyond high school. Her inspiring words reminded everyone of the lasting impact of the NHS values.

Principal Rob Bohan addressed the inductees, saying, "We could not be any prouder — you all deserve to be inducted today."

Mayor Borer also delivered a message of pride and encouragement, stating, "Take a moment to feel an overwhelming sense of pride in what you’ve achieved. The entire city of West Haven is proud of you and celebrates this accomplishment with you."

Current senior members were recognized and received pins to wear at graduation, honoring their continued commitment and achievements.

Most importantly, the ceremony concluded with the new members taking the official NHS pledge, marking their induction as members of the West Haven High School chapter of the National Honor Society.

A heartfelt thank you to our graduating members of the Class of 2025 for their leadership and dedication. Congratulations to all the newly inducted members — we look forward to the positive impact you will make as representatives of WHHS!
