Senior Paige Davis has been a true leader and captain of the West Haven Track and Field team, inspiring her teammates with dedication, positivity, and accountability.
On the track, Paige has been a dynamic force, specializing in Long Jump, 4x1 relay, and the 200m dash. One of her standout moments came during her sophomore year, when she broke the school records in both the Girls Long Jump and Girls Triple Jump—an achievement she fondly remembers as a highlight of her athletic career. “My favorite memory was breaking the school record in Girls Long Jump and Girls Triple Jump my sophomore year,” Paige shared.
As team captain, Paige has embraced the responsibility of leading by example. “As captain, I've learned to have a positive approach and take accountability in every aspect,” she said.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Paige is proud of the strong academic record and positive reputation she has built as both a student and an athlete. “I am proud of my good grades and the positive reputation I've built both as an athlete and as a student. I'm also proud to be graduating and going to college,” she noted. With graduation approaching, she looks forward to attending the University of Connecticut to study Early Childhood Education.
Paige credits her parents as a major influence in shaping who she is today. “My parents are one of the biggest reasons why I am who I am. They've always encouraged me to keep going and to finish what I started. They've supported me all throughout high school. I admire the kind of people they are,” she said.
As a captain, Paige leaves behind a lasting legacy of leadership, perseverance, and positivity that will continue to inspire the West Haven Track and Field team for years to come.
Senior Sufyan Sayed has also left his mark on West Haven Athletics as a standout member of the Varsity Tennis team, where he competed in doubles. Wearing his school colors proudly, Sufyan brought grit and determination to every match.
One of his most cherished memories came during his final match of senior year, when he and his partner clinched a win in the third set through a second tiebreaker. “It was a special moment because of how close the game was, and it was nice to end my high school career with a win,” Sufyan recalled.
Serving as team captain this year, Sufyan embraced the role with a deepened sense of commitment. “I gained a greater sense of responsibility because I forced myself to show up on time and be there for my team when it mattered the most,” he said.
Off the court, Sufyan is equally accomplished. He is the president of two robotics clubs and is developing RoboReach, a nonprofit organization aimed at introducing STEM to the younger generation. “I’m proud of my extracurricular activities and the work I do to improve myself every day—whether that's studying, going to the gym, or practicing my religion,” he shared.
After graduation, Sufyan will be attending the University of Connecticut, where he plans to major in chemical engineering.
He credits his father as one of the most influential figures in his life. “My dad continues to shape the man I have become through his hard work and actions. Even when he isn’t speaking, his discipline and ability to juggle numerous responsibilities is something I truly admire,” Sufyan said.
Sufyan’s journey reflects leadership, resilience, and a drive to grow—both on and off the court—leaving behind a legacy of inspiration for future student-athletes at West Haven.
Together, Paige Davis and Sufyan Sayed represent the very best of West Haven Athletics—hardworking, driven, and committed to excellence in every area of their lives.
