A force on the softball field, Natalie Gallo has served as a cornerstone of the West Haven High School team. Known for her versatility and dominance in the circle, Natalie wears number 16 and has shown she can handle any position asked of her. A defining moment this season came when she struck out 16 batters in a single game—an achievement that exemplifies her talent and competitive spirit. “That game will always stay with me,” she said.

Natalie’s journey through sports hasn’t always been easy, but she’s learned powerful lessons along the way. “Hardships might hurt, but they can lead to great outcomes over time,” she shared. Beyond athletics, Natalie has made a meaningful impact as president of Morgan’s Message, a student-led organization dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in athletes. Her leadership on and off the field has been both bold and compassionate.

In the fall, Natalie will attend Purchase College, where she’ll continue her athletic career at the Division III level while studying creative writing with a minor in education. She credits her father as the guiding force behind her success: “He was my first coach and has always been my biggest supporter. I wouldn’t be the person or athlete I am today without him.”

On the lacrosse field, senior Brandon Doody has worn number 29 with pride, serving as a key presence at midfield and helping drive the team’s momentum. One of his favorite memories was helping lead West Haven to a historic win in the state tournament. “That first-round win was something I’ll never forget,” Brandon said. “It was a proud moment for all of us.”

Brandon has learned the value of hard work and consistency over the past four years. “Putting in work even when people aren’t watching truly pays off,” he said. “Always give 100% in everything you do.” That mindset helped him take on the challenge of learning both hockey and lacrosse during high school—sports he had no experience in before freshman year. “It just shows that if you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you can pick up anything.”

Looking back, he’s proud of how far he’s come, both as a player and a teammate. “I’ve learned to push through tough moments and stay focused on what I can control,” he said. Brandon will continue his academic path at the University of New Haven and plans to play club lacrosse while studying there. He credits his family for keeping him grounded and motivated: “They’ve always encouraged me to stay committed and reminded me what I’m capable of.”
