The Science Club at West Haven High School has been making waves—both in the lab and out in the community. Officially reestablished in 2024 after a pre-COVID hiatus, the club is led by student leaders Bedirhan Ozmen, Mae Hernandez, Kadidja Morou, and Cara Wilson, with guidance from science teacher Mrs. Poffenberger.

The club hosts bi-weekly meetings filled with hands-on experiments, creative science-based activities, and even environmental initiatives like beach cleanups. Since its relaunch, the club has built a strong and consistent membership and successfully carried out a variety of engaging experiments that keep students coming back for more.

With exciting new projects on the horizon and an end-of-the-year party in the works, the Science Club promises both fun and valuable learning. Members can expect to sharpen their scientific literacy while also building essential skills such as time management, teamwork, leadership, communication, and environmental awareness.

Best of all, no sign-up is required—just show up and join the fun! Whether you’re passionate about science or just curious to try something new, the Science Club is the perfect place to explore, experiment, and grow.
