Soccer playersSeniors Isabel “Izzy” Millard and Nathan Charron have each left a lasting mark on West Haven Soccer, leading their teams with dedication, resilience, and heart. Both captains, wearing number 30 and number 8 respectively, have embraced the responsibility of guiding their teammates while anchoring the defense as center backs.

For Izzy, one of her favorite memories came during her freshman year, when West Haven defeated an unbeaten Mercy team, handing them their first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory. “Beating Mercy during my freshman year was such a special moment,” she recalled, a memory that highlights the determination and teamwork she has carried throughout her career. Nathan recalls a different type of challenge as one of his standout experiences: stepping in as a varsity goalkeeper when his team needed him most. Both moments reflect the courage and commitment that define them as leaders.

This season, Izzy has learned the value of balancing patience with motivation. “I learned that it's important to be patient and understanding but also to push your teammates to their full potential,” she shared. Nathan, meanwhile, has grown in his ability to manage responsibilities both on and off the field. “Being a captain, I've learned how to help manage team needs on and off the field, and how to balance time to accomplish them,” he said.

Off the field, both captains are just as accomplished. Izzy takes pride in her academic success, while Nathan has channeled his creativity into music as a self-taught guitar player. Looking ahead, Izzy plans to attend the University of Michigan to pursue her dream of becoming a sports medicine physician. Nathan will continue his education as well, with plans to study psychology.

When it comes to inspiration, both captains point to family as their foundation. Izzy credits her mother for showing her the importance of kindness and always being there for others, while Nathan acknowledges his brother for guiding him every step of the way as both a player and a person.

Together, Izzy Millard and Nathan Charron leave behind a legacy of leadership, perseverance, and teamwork that will continue to inspire future Blue Devils long after their graduation.
