½ year, 0.5 credit

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Computer Aided Design or STEM1000 Introduction to Engineering Design .

Students will build upon content learned in Introduction to CAD or STEM Introduction to Engineering Design and complete design projects for prototyping and manufacturing using 3-D modeling computer aided design (CAD) software. Design standards, such as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, will be used in student designs. Students will complete designs from concept to prototype. Various prototyping techniques and machines, such as a three dimensional printer, will be used by students to model designs.

Gateway Community College Engineering Pathway Partnership - Students who enroll in Introduction to CAD (WHHS TE0509) AND Advanced Computer Aided Design (WHHS TE 0505) will be eligible to test for Gateway Community College Credit for ARC 133 Technical Drafting (3 credits) and CAD 108 CAD Introduction (3 credits). Students will need to have a C or higher in both courses and receive a passing grade on the final examination for each Gateway Community College course and enroll in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program at Gateway Community College.
