Just a reminder that I am not permitted by state law to disperse any medication (including Tylenol, cough medicine, eye drops or ointments) to any student without the written permission of the child's physician and you, the parent. I have a required form for this purpose, which I will be happy to give to you if a medication is absolutely necessary for your child during school hours.
Please identify the nature of your child's illness when calling in to report his/her illness. This information enables me to determine if there is any illness or disease that is prevalent in our school community and what precautions, if any, I should take to prevent its communicability.
Also, each school nurse in the city is responsible for reporting her statistics to the Head Nurse, thereby making it possible to identify any major increase in certain illnesses (chicken pox, strep throat, etc.) that may be occurring city-wide.
