Schools celebrate Pi Day with contests, pie
pi day
District schools had Pi Day celebrations today, in honor of tomorrow being 3/14. Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, nearly equal to 3.14159... At West Haven High School, six students who entered a contest for memorizing the most digits of Pi wrote as many digits as they could remember on a whiteboard. Sophomore Kara Walker won for the second year in a row with 260 digits. Each student then chose a teacher to "pie" in the face. Bailey Middle School students had the chance to pie Assistant Principals Ms. Bruneau and Mr. Bohan in the face in a raffle. At Carrigan Intermediate School, a student who memorized and recited 114 digits won an opportunity to pie Mr. Weber in the face.
