  100 days
  Schools across
the district celebrated the 100th day of school Thursday with special presentations and activities. At Washington Elementary School (pictured), students participated in a school-wide assembly and shared the ways their grade marked the 100th day. A pair of kindergarteners shared about their lessons in counting to 100; first-graders displayed 100 Valentines they crafted for veterans at West Haven's VA Hospital; second-graders completed 100 acts of kindness around school and wrote each act on a link of a paper chain; grade three acted out a math activity that showed ways to add and multiply to 100; and grade four sang a song about grammar and read poems they wrote.

WHHS art student wins gold key award
art
West Haven High School senior Toni Chambers received a gold key in the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards for her digital work, “6:53 pm.” The digital illustration was inspired by doodles in her sketchbook and created in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. She says she experimented with the idea of "a process," such as math notes, blueprints, and drafts, to create the final piece.
