tatianaIt was only about a year ago that West Haven High School student Tatiana Gay found herself at her first debate team tournament, vying against students from other states and even another country in a special competition as she represented the WHHS chapter of the Urban Debate League. These days, the determined and ambitious WHHS senior is a top-ranked debater in the Yale University-run New Haven Urban Debate League, coming in first place in multiple tournaments this year. She's secured a spot at the Liberty Bell Classic, a parliamentary debate invitational at the University of Pennsylvania, and will compete there Feb. 13-15. She's the only WHHS student who qualified for the UPenn event, and will attend with students from area schools.
Students, staff wear purple, donate to fight MSA
MSA day
Students and staff across the district wore purple on Friday and donated money to help fight Multiple System Atrophy in honor of a lifelong Westie battling the disease. All proceeds will be donated to Massachusetts General Hospital to help fund efforts to combat MSA, which has no treatment or cure at this time. Thank you to our schools for showing your support.

Mackrille Elementary School. It will be making the rounds to other district schools over the next few weeks. Students have been curious to see how the sandwiches were made and enjoyed trying something new.
