Alumni share tips on post-high school life
• January 13: Carrigan band winter concert, 6:30 p.m.

• January 13: Class at the Court field trip for all fourth-graders to UNH.

• January 14: Forest third grade concert, "Bebop with Aesop," 9:30 a.m.

• January 14: Half-day of school for students.

• January 15: Bailey 7th grade band and chorus winter concert, 7 p.m.

January 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Schools are closed.

January 20: Board of Education meeting, 7 p.m., City Hall. Please note this meeting is on a Tuesday, due to the Monday holiday.
More than 20 recent graduates of West Haven High School returned to campus Thursday for the School Counseling Department's annual Alumni Day event. The grads held Q&A sessions with current WHHS upperclassmen and shared stories of their college experiences, while also giving advice on living in dorms, getting along with roommates, handling the college workload, and more. They also answered questions about feeling homesick, class schedules and working with professors.

Completed physical examinations for Carrigan sixth-graders are due to the nurse by February. For questions, call the nurse at 203-931-6867.

School Climate Surveys for Pagels; Mackrille; Forest; Haley; Savin Rock; Washington; Carrigan; Bailey; and WHHS. All answers are confidential and used to improve our schools.

  UNH student-athletes volunteer at Forest

The University of New Haven women's basketball team recently visited Forest Elementary School students during lunch and recess to talk with students about college life and motivate them to succeed in school. They also played basketball with them outside. Many UNH teams visit with West Haven Public School youngsters throughout the school year. The basketball team will also host all West Haven fourth-graders January 13 during the annual Class at the Court event at UNH.

WHHS cheerleaders prepare for nationals
The West Haven High School cheerleaders are again heading to Orlando, Florida, for a national competition in February, having won first place in two divisions at a regional championship last month. The team won first place in both the Game Day division and Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling division at the Dec. 13 Universal Cheerleaders Association Empire Regionals at Stony Brook University in New York and was honored by Mayor Edward M. O’Brien at City Hall Dec. 26.
