Bailey Middle School eighth-graders Natalie Martinez, Wendy Weng and Richard Zayas are the winners of Mayor Edward M. O'Brien's Christmas card design campaign. The three designs will now be on Mayor O'Brien's Christmas cards. The students also helped light the tree on the Green.
WHHS students volunteer to help neighbors

West Haven High School students who are members of Student Government, the Leos and VolunTEEN raked and bagged leaves for WHHS neighbors Thursday as a goodwill gesture with teachers Trish Thompson and Adair McCormack.

The WHHS Mock Trial team competed in a regional tournament this week at New Haven Superior Court.

Applications for the UNH Charging Ahead program are due Monday, Dec. 8. Accepted juniors and seniors have the chance to earn free college credit.

Washington Elementary School is holding a food drive this month for WHEAT through Dec. 12. Bring in an item and get entered into a raffle for a movie pack.

Carrigan's Student Council is holding a toy drive Dec. 15-19 for Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

School Climate Surveys for Pagels; Mackrille; Forest; Haley; Savin Rock; Washington; Carrigan; Bailey; and WHHS. All answers are confidential and used to improve our schools.

  Family Math Nights held across district
math nights
Forest Elementary School, Washington Elementary School and Savin Rock Community School all had Family Math Nights this week. Students and their families had a chance to get dinner at the event and play math games or read a math-related storybook. Family math and literacy nights are held at district schools throughout the year to give parents another opportunity to be involved in their child's education and to help students continue developing academic skills while having fun.

UConn engineering students visit WHHS classes

Engineering students from the University of Connecticut recently visited West Haven High School chemistry and engineering students to hold workshops about alternative energy, conduct an experiment, and discuss industry opportunities. The visit is part of a partnership with UConn.
