Summer meal program takes off
meal program  meal program
The school district's free summer meal program is providing young Westies with food at 19 sites. In the photos above, food service staff members retrieve milk, watermelon slices, carrots and sandwiches from coolers for kids. The Beach Street skate park has been added as a location, while the Community House was taken off the list due to a lack of kids attending the meal program. You can typically spot staff members with their large red coolers near playgrounds.
Carrigan kids star in showcase
theater program
Sixth-graders participating in the Carrigan Summer Theater Program wrapped up three weeks of drama workshops in a morning performance for parents July 11. Over the past three weeks, the youngsters learned about script-writing, improvisation, character roles, monologues and soliloquies, vocal projection and more. The program, which is free for kids and launched last summer, was run by teachers Lenny Adams, Donna Pitts and Anne-Marie LaMotta.
