Kiss-a-pig fundraiser earns money for Mackrille
Edith E. Mackrille Elementary School hosted a special visitor last Friday: Penny the 90-pound pot-bellied pig. The PTA sponsored a contest fundraiser that gave students a chance to choose a group of teachers to kiss Penny. Kids put donations into buckets that corresponded to Mackrille teachers, and those with the most money in their buckets "won." At a brief school-wide assembly last Friday, winning teachers Mrs. Hummel, Mrs. Alves and Mrs. Memmott kissed Penny (on the head) as youngsters cheered and giggled. Students also got to ask Penny's owners questions about the pig's life and behaviors.
