Alma E. Pagels Elementary School held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony Tuesday, giving students a chance to honor veterans in their lives and learn about sacrifices members of the military have made for America. One student from each grade read a short piece about Veterans Day or a vet in his or her life. Youngsters also sang patriotic songs and placed flags in front of Pagels. The West Haven Public Library is holding a program for teens that will take them back to the days of their childhood, featuring finger painting, coloring and Legos. Click here for the flyer.

The WHHS fall play, "Plaza Suite," is next weekend. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door or $5 for any college or high school students with ID.

Help Bailey Middle School teachers Matthew DiGioia and Sherry Mitchell win Chromebook computers for their classes. Click here and hit "cast vote." You can use your Facebook or Twitter account to vote.

  Carrigan collection nets 4000+ items for WHEAT

Carrigan Intermediate School's annual donation drive for WHEAT collected more than 4,000 items, which were delivered to the charity today. Students and staff helped pack up bags upon bags of non-perishable food items.
Superintendent serves as Mackrille guest reader

Superintendent of Schools Neil C. Cavallaro served as Edith E. Mackrille Elementary School's guest reader for November as part of the school's "Reading Journey" program. Cavallaro read "How to Read a Story" to the entire school community and then held a Q & A session with the youngsters, answering questions about his favorite books while growing up, why he wanted to work in education, and his favorite hobbies.
