Bailey STEM students build, race "cars"

Bailey Middle School students have been following the engineering design process and using design modifications to improve speed and performance of their "gear racers." They had a great time racing their "cars" down Bailey hallways to test them out for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) classes.
 News and Notes
The David Cappetta Memorial Scholarship fundraiser is Oct. 17, 2-6 pm, at the Polish American Club, 194 West Spring St. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids; youngsters 5 and under are free. There will be food, beer, raffles, games and music.  Cappetta is the Board of Ed's former finance director who passed away in 2014.

There's still time to sign up for fun Adult Ed classes. Call 203-937-4375 to register (click on class for flyer):
Thriller" dance class is on Oct. 27; "Beat It" dance class is on Nov. 1; Security Guard class is Nov. 16 & 17; Baking for Busy Bees starts Nov. 18.

The Haley PTA and WHHS Theater Workshop are holding the Capes and Crowns Dinner in the WHHS cafeteria on Oct. 23. The event is open to children of all grades and has seatings at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a ziti dinner and meet your favorite superheroes and princesses. Children may dress as a favorite character. Admission is $10 per child and $5 per adult. Advance tickets are available but not required. Email sethghaleypta@gmail.com, or send in the flyer students received.

  Carrigan takes a stand against bullying
  unity day

The Carrigan Intermediate School community took a stand against bullying Thursday with "Unity Day" and invited staff and students to wear orange in support of the cause. On Friday, they were encouraged to wear pink for "Get Your Pink On Day" for breast cancer awareness.
WHHS students visit Sikorsky
West Haven High School technology education students, as well as students in the Girls in STEM club, recently visited Sikorsky on Manufacturing Day.
