Putting on "AIRS" Asthma Program

West Haven Family Resource Participates in a Program Designed to Target the Reduction of Environmental Asthma Triggers in the Home

The West Haven Family Resource Center in partnership with the West Haven Health Department offers the Putting On AIRS* (Asthma Indoor Risk Strategies) program. If you are a West Haven resident who suffers from persistent asthma related illness, this program, funded by the CT Department of Public Health (DPH) is available through your health department at no cost to you.

The focus of the Putting On AIRS program is to identify possible environmental issues that may be occurring in the home and trigger asthma related illnesses. Through this program, the Putting on AIRS Asthma Educator and environmental specialist can visit your home to assess for environmental triggers that may contribute to persistent asthma related illnesses.

The home assessment includes a one-on-one interactive session during which the Asthma Educator reviews the prescribed asthma medications and asthma management plan as provided by the physician. The environmental specialist will conduct a walk-through of the home to identify possible environmental asthma triggers as well as provide information on low or no cost methods to minimize these triggers.

If you would like more information on the Putting On AIRS program or would like to schedule a home visit, contact the Program Coordinator Betty Murphy at 203-581-0428 or Jean Vitale at 931-4739.
